Cross Country: The Fight To The Finish Line

During the past few weeks Pt England School  have been training for the Cross Country run that we did yesterday. Each year we have a Cross Country run just like every other primary school/intermediate to see who are the top 3 runners of their year. Then the top 3 runners go through to inter-zones. Any-ways it all took place at 2:00pm on the field and reserve and finished at 3:00pm.

Just before it was time to make our way to the hard courts we all made our way to the changing rooms and had something to eat.  Everyone represented their colours, Tainui (Blue), Takitimu (Yellow), Te Arawa (Red), and last but not least Mataatua (Green). Our run was about 3km but unfortunately the year eights run was just a little bit longer 3.5km.

As I headed to the start line Mr. Burt instructed the Year 7 girls to take their place. After he demonstrated to us what and where we'd be running he told us to take our places at the start line. " On your marks, Get Set, GO". Mr Burt Yelled. We were of, zoom!!. As fast as we all could we raced, overlapping each other and shoving we all just wanted to get it over and done with.

At the end of the day the Cross Country run was really easier than I actually thought. After all our hard work of trying our best and pushing our self's to the limit it all payed of at the end. Hopefully next year the run is as fun as it was this year.  I think next year I am going to try improve on pushing myself a bit more so that next year I will improve a bit better.

The Medley Relay

Included in the olympics is a very popular sport and that is the Medley Relay. In this relay swimming is only involved. Four different strokes for four different people makes up this exciting team sport.
Swimming as fast as you can beating your opponents is the aim of the event.  When you are swimming you have to do the right strokes and the right turns. This relay also  has strict rules, and strict referees.
All  athletes included in the Medley relay wear a type of suit called jons. This suit prevents drag. A pair of goggles the swimmer wears keeps the water  and chlorine out of their eyes and the swimming cap also helps keep the swimmers hair out of the way.
The talents and skills needed for the medley relay is strength and stamina. Exercise is very important to do if you are a contestant in this sport. Swimming is about techniques and is also about mental psychology.
Overall I think that the medley relay would be fun to do. I also think that this sport is for very fit people.  Athletes who compete in this event must be very very fit in order to compete.

Immersion Assembly

As quickly as I could I sat down next to my friend to watch the performances. After waiting to see team 5 performance It started. All I could see were all the teachers in team 5 spraying Mrs. Nua's hair, and I heard her say, "Are you sure I came to the right salon?" Mr.Barks replied, "Yeah yeah you came to the right salon, trust me you did".
Then Mrs Lagitupu pulled out a variety of different cutting tools and I remember Mr.Harris had a carving knife but then he put it back on the table. He cut one hair off Mrs.Nua's head and they tried to dry her hair with a leaf The reason why like team 5 Is because I liked the rap.

My other favorite team was team 3 because of Miss Burns' big eyes. They were all dressed as mad scientists. Then all you could see was Miss Lavakula and Mrs Barks tossing a multitude of ingredients into a beaker and out popped some soap,(Miss Walters). Then out of nowhere Miss Lavakuala sang her rap to Baby, Baby, Wash your hands. After that they just picked up there bottles and started to spray water on us.Team three was so funny.
